四季のある日本ならではの美しい風景のひとつに紅葉があります。先日、愛知県犬山市にある博物館明治村を訪れました。明治村は、明治建築を保存・展示する野外博物館として1965年に開村しました。今回は紅葉がとてもきれいでした！紅葉の名所は数あれど、紅葉を眺めるだけではあまり楽しめないところもありますよね。その点、ここは老若男女問わず楽しめる場所です。美味しいものが食べられたり、レトロな日本建築に入れたり、明治時代の乗り物に乗れたり、昔ながらの着物を着て歩けたり、小さな子供が遊べる屋内スペースがあったり……。乗り物が好きな人にとっては、本物のSLに乗れるのは大きな喜びです。子どもさんたちも大喜びですよ。

One of the most beautiful sceneries unique to Japan, with its four seasons, is the autumn foliage. The other day, I visited Museum Meiji-Mura in Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture. The village opened in 1965 as an open-air museum to preserve and exhibit Meiji architecture. The autumn leaves were very beautiful this time. There are many places famous for their autumn foliage, but some of them do not offer much to enjoy other than viewing the leaves. On the other hand, this place can be enjoyed by people of all ages and both men and women. You can eat delicious food, enter retro Japanese buildings, ride rides from the Meiji era, walk around in old-fashioned kimonos, have indoor space for small children to play, and so on. For those who love vehicles, being able to ride on a real SL is a great joy. Children will also be very happy.

明治村には長年通っているが、秋に訪れたのは初めてだった。駐車場が満車だったのには驚いた。中に入って納得。紅葉がとても美しい。北口から園内に入り、東京駅（園内にあるSLの駅）近くの地下道を抜けると鉄橋があり、その周りの木々がきれいに色づいている。

I have been going to Meiji-mura for many years, but this was my first visit in the fall. I was surprised that the parking lot was full. Once inside, I was convinced. The autumn leaves are very beautiful. Entering the park from the north exit, you go through the underground passage near Tokyo Station (the station for the SL train in the park), and you will see a railroad bridge and the trees around it are beautifully colored.

南口から引き返し、三重県庁の前を通ると、右手に順番待ちの人たちがいたので、「なぜ？」と見上げると、斜面に沿って美しい紅葉が並んでいるので、そこで写真を撮ろうと順番待ちしていたのですね。ここは、まさに「絵になる」スポットです。

I turned back from the south entrance and passed in front of the Mie Prefectural Office, where people were waiting their turn on the right side. When I looked up to see what the order was, I saw a beautiful line of autumn leaves along the slope. This is truly a “picture-perfect” spot.
